From the small town of Phil Campbell, Alabama, Dr. Emily Mehaffey graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Her honors in undergraduate school included Presidential scholarship, University Honors program, Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, Order of Omega honor society, Who's Who Among American College Students, Lambda Sigma honor society, Phi Eta Sigma dental society, Alpha Lambda Delta
honor society, Gamma Beta Phi honor society, emerging leaders, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key honor society, and Corolla Favorite.
She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, Alabama, where she received the top award for oral medicine and was on the Dean's list. She was also honored by being chosen to participate in the University of Alabama School of Dentistry International Exchange Program with Japan. She also received an award for Outstanding Student Research, and was awarded the IADR travel grant to present her
research abstract in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Mehaffey has been awarded membership in the American Academy of Oral Medicine. She also holds memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Association of Women Dentists.
She has volunteered with Give Kids a Smile, Boys and Girls Club, Caring Days Adult Daycare, Church Builder Missions, Good Samaritan Clinic, and The Civitan.
Dr. Mehaffey is married to Greg Mehaffey, M.D., who is currently an anesthesiology resident at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, Alabama football, piano, running, painting, and most anything outdoors!
